The initial design started with a simple hexagon that would allow the inclusion of all the holes

 

Next I had to map out where the holes would go, keeping in mind that this was a universal plate design for both upper and lower deck.

After more testing and chcking I went ahead to put the pattern onto wood and cut the first test plate

Next the drilling holes need to be marked

and then drilled out.

Now a test fit

Now test assembly

Now a real assembly

Thats as far as I got on this day!!!
