The final build session begins with the arrival of the flight controller. An OpenPilot CopterControl board purchased from flitelab.com the Canadian distributor for the OpenPilot project.

We start by unpacking the CopterControl board aka the CC Board.

we mount it on the Nano on the nylon standoffs.

side view - installed

Next we add standoffs, these will act as supports for the head protector later.

Now we add a 6ch RX (CC likes 6+channels) and recalibrate the ESCs then we modify 3 of the 4 ESC cables to disable the +v to the CC, we only want one ESC powering the CC. you can see the white shrinktube where the mod has been made on each of the 3 ESCs.

Now to shrink the ESC->FC plugs

Here I have zip tied the ESCs to the arms, and fed all power wires to the main body and routed all ESC plugs to the flight controller

Here I have routed the RX cables and mounted the RX with velcro.

Ready for props

Props go on.

AUW 289 grams with 1200 mAh lipo

Just for an intial proof of flight test, I attached a hyperion 2100 mAh lipo (weighs in at 130 grams) and literally flew around the house in 3 different modes for 16 minutes and 16 seconds. The real inteded batery is a turnigy nano 1300 (76 grams) wich I hope gives similar flight times.
Video coming soon.
